meet Blake

licensed therapist and friendship educator

and creator of the Friendship Deck

There’s not a lot of support out there just for you and your friendships. I’m on a mission to change that and help you have authentic and meaningful friendships that stand the test of time.

So what exactly is a Friendship Educator?

Studies are showing us two things lately. The first is that having a supportive network of good friends helps you not just live longer, but a happier and more fulfilled life. As we emerge from the pandemic, research is also showing us we are spending the least amount of time with our friends than ever before in history.

You see the problem too? That’s why it’s vital that more resources for connecting to your friends in meaningful ways are so necessary.

Good friendships don’t happen on accident, at least not the older you get. Using my clinical experience and research as a licensed therapist, my own stories, lessons, and mishaps with friends, I bring a unique and nuanced approach to navigating these pivotal and foundational relationships in your life.

You are worthy of having incredible friendships and it’s a joy and delight to help you be a better friend and have better friendships.

More about Blake…

Your friendships deserve more attention. I’ve never cared for the fact that friendship rarely gets time in the spotlight and is more of a side story than the main event. Friendships are both complex and messy and supportive and transformative. They can wound us and they have the power to help us heal and grow.

I spend the majority of my days sitting with incredible folks and working through trauma, eating disorders, anxiety, and hurt relationships at my therapy practice, Fig Holistic Psychotherapy that’s in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Having moved multiple times all across the country and finally making a full circle back to where I grew up (something I said I’d never do, but alas here I am…), I’m right there with you making new friends, cultivating old ones, and working to build community in a meaningful way that’s not just good for me but good for all.

I’m a new Mom, too, and that’s adding a layer of richness to my work in friendship because if there’s ever been a time I’ve needed my friends, it’s been in becoming a Mom. In my free time, I love reading all the books, eating really good food, and of course spending time with dear, dear friends.

So glad you’re here!!
